Maui luau at a glance

Most Maui luaus fall into three areas: Lahaina, Kāʻanapali and Wailea. A luau typically combines a dinner with live music and dance, and tickets come in standard and higher tiers. The shows differ mainly in where they are, how you sit and how much you pay. This guide does not rank them.

Adult tickets for the shows below run to around $200 to $265 in 2026, before taxes, according to reviews and resellers. Child tickets cost less, and VIP or premium seating costs more. Operators change prices without notice, so check the booking page for the current figure.

How to choose a luau

Four questions narrow the field faster than any ranking.

Where are you staying?

A luau in your own area saves a late drive. Kāʻanapali is about 50 minutes from Kahului Airport. West Maui has Old Lāhainā Lūʻau in Lahaina and Drums of the Pacific at the Hyatt Regency Maui, and Te Au Moana is at the Wailea Beach Marriott in the south.

Where to stay →

How do you want to sit?

Old Lāhainā Lūʻau offers tables and chairs or traditional mats. Drums of the Pacific sells standard and VIP tickets. Ask what the higher tier includes before you pay for it.

What is your budget?

Plan for around $200 to $265 per adult for standard tickets in 2026. Taxes and booking fees are often added at checkout, so compare the final price, not the headline.

When do you travel?

The popular shows book out. Reserve 2 to 3 months ahead for the dates you care about.

The shows by area

What each part of the island offers.

Lahaina

Old Lāhainā Lūʻau stands on Front Street next to Mala Wharf and reopened after the 2023 fire. It lets you choose between tables with chairs and traditional mats. Feast at Lele, destroyed in 2023, has no show at present.

West Maui and Kāʻanapali →

Kāʻanapali

Drums of the Pacific is staged at the Hyatt Regency Maui. Standard and VIP tickets are on sale, so look at what the upgrade gives you.

Wailea

Te Au Moana is at the Wailea Beach Marriott in the dry, sunny south. Reported prices vary more here than elsewhere, which makes the operator's own page the number to trust.

Before you pay

Prices quoted online differ because of ticket tiers, taxes and fees. These checks keep the number honest.

Which ticket level?

Standard tickets sit at the lower end of the range, and VIP or premium tickets can cost clearly more. Find out what the higher level adds, such as seating closer to the stage.

What is added at checkout?

Resellers often add taxes and fees on top of the headline price. Compare the total, and note that children's tickets are priced lower.

Is there a waiting list?

If your date is full, ask the operator. Old Lāhainā Lūʻau keeps a waiting list online.

Can you cancel?

Read the cancellation terms before you pay, especially in storm season, which runs until 30 November in the Central Pacific.

Practical details

Old Lāhainā Lūʻau offers free parking on site or across the road at the Lahaina Cannery Mall. Residents of Hawaiʻi book kamaʻāina rates by phone only. If a date is sold out, the operator keeps an online waiting list.

The luau sits in Lahaina, which is open to visitors. Front Street has been open to vehicles again since 1 August 2026, while some streets, the courthouse and the banyan tree remain fenced. Stay out of closed areas and private property, and do not photograph sites affected by the 2023 fire.

Whichever show you pick, treat it as a cultural performance and watch with respect. For the day itself, a snorkel cruise or a whale watching trip in the morning fits well with an evening show.
